Initial design
Camera case (attached to the mirror)
After deciding the battery that will be used for the device, it was time to start with CAD model to show the concept of how the device will be attached to the truck’s mirror. The plan was to have the whole device as one piece but as the power bank weights 225g, the Raspberry Pi's weight, and the case's weight will be heavy to the mirror. Therefore, separating the camera from the device was the solution for this issue. 1m Raspberry Pi wire extension was needed for it, as the device will stay inside the truck and the camera is the only components that will be attached to the mirror.
The camera housing and case CAD model is shown in figure 3 and figure 4. The camera case will be made from clear acrylic, it has a whole for the camera lens to see through; it will help when it rains, as the rain will not touch the lens. 20mm magnetic plate is attached to the camera back case and the truck’s mirror too, as shown in figure 2 and figure 4. It will allow the driver to easily mount the camera to the mirror. Figure 1 shows the camera attached to the mirror.
